Post-Keynote-Rumors

Wer kurz an Januar 2003 zurückdenkt, wird sich vielleicht noch erinnern können, dass uns Apple gerade nach der damaligen Keynote mit einem wahren Produktvorstellungsfeuerwerk bei Laune hielt.
Auch jetzt spekuliert unter anderem AppleInsider auf eine PowerMac G5 Vorstellung möglicherweise noch im Januar ("on or after January 20th"):

"According to new reports, the 90-nm G5 is now in the final stages of manufacturing. Dependent on test results, this revision of the G5 could top out at either 2.5 or 2.6GHz. Among the other expected clock frequencies are 2.2, and 2.4GHz flavors. The new Xserve G5 makes use of the 2.0GHz 90-nm G5 chip, which will be the first of the 90-nm revision to ship in quantity from IBM."

Auf PowerBooks darf man sich wohl erst freuen, wenn das recht unbemerkte TradeIn Programm Ende März ausgelaufen sein wird, hierzu Randnotiz von AppleInsider:

"... sources claim that a major architectural revision to the 12-inch PowerBook is currently underway at Apple. The end result of the modification will aim to further differentiate the low-end PowerBook from the company's 12-inch iBook family, sources say."

Softwareseitig dürfte man sich wohl ziemlich bald mit Safari 1.2 ausstatten können, nett wäre sicher auch ein iCal/iSync Update, wozu die Gerüchteküche allerdings bislang schweigt. Ebenso dürfte 10.3.3 bis Mitte Februar auftauchen.

Weiteren Stoff für wilde Spekulationen liefern neuvorgestellte Mini-Festplatten, unter anderem eine Toshiba 0.85" Festplattenvariante mit 2 und 4GB Kapazität ab Spätsommer, die eine wunderbare Grundlage für einen Mini iPod mini hergeben würde.

So scheut sich die Washington Post nicht, die nächsten iPods vorherzusehen:

"Fearless prediction: The iPod mini will become the default size for iPods before too long, and we will see a "mini iPod mini" to occupy the low end of the spectrum."
